The following pictures are of my 1975 MOTOBECANE Grand Record which I received as a high school graduation gift from my parents in 1976. This was my main and only road bike until 1983 when it was supplemented with a Guerciotti Jet. At that time, early symptoms of a life long disease first started to appear in me. That disease (which probably affects most people viewing cyclofiend) is called ÒBikecoholismÓ!

Right from the beginning I was changing and upgrading my Grand Record. When we initially picked her up at the shop I had the dealer make some changes which included replacing the original TA 3 Ð arm crank with a Sugino Mighty Competition crank and the stock seat post with a SR Royal. Both of these items are Campy Nuovo Record look-a-likes and have performed flawlessly for over 30 years. I also had the original Brooks Pro saddle replaced with an Italian Buffalo suede padded saddle, which was a dumb move on my part and have since rectified! Also gone are the original Super Champion wheels with Normandy Lux Competition Hubs and the Atom 700 pedals (both of which I still have).

She is currently outfitted in the following un-restored condition:
á 24Ó Frame with Reynolds 531 DB tubing in the 3 main tubes and fork.
á Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear derailleur and shifters. (original)
á Sun Tour Super Pro front derailleur replacing the original Nuovo Record, which broke in the early 80Õs.
á Sugino Mighty Competition cranks (dealer installed upgrade) w/80Õs vintage Avocet 42/52 chainrings.
á Shimano French treaded Dura-Ace bottom bracket and spindle. (Replaced original TA to resolve chain-line issues.)
á Sun Tour ÒNew WinnerÓ 12-26 6spd freewheel. (Original was a Maillard 13-26.)
á Sedis ÒSedisportÓ gold chain.
á Weinmann Ò999Ó Center Pull Brakes and levers (original), AME hoods are replacements.
á Nitto Pearl 9 stem and Universidad handlebar. (original)
á Wheels upgraded in the mid 80Õs w/Mavic GP 4 tubular rims, Specialized ÒLifetimeÓ sealed bearing hubs, DT DB SS spokes, and Wolber Sew ups.
á Sun Tour Super Pro Pedals.
á Avocet Ò1Ó Anatomic saddle which has since been replaced with a slightly used era correct Brooks Professional.
á SR Royal seat post.
á Silca frame fit pump. (original)

Enjoy!
