Here is my recently renovated 1988 Miyata 1000 Touring Bike.

The specifications are as follow:

--Mavic A719 Wheels with DT Swiss spokes and Phil Wood hubs
--Schwalbe Marathon Supreme tires (700x35)
--Sugino triple crank (48-36-24)
--IRD freewheel (14-17-20-24-28-32)*
--Shimano XT rear derailer
--Brooks B-17 Saddle
--Nitto Technomic Deluxe stem
--Specialized drop handlebars
--Chris King headset
--Tange sealed bottom bracket
--Shimano Tiagra brake levers
--Sram chain

*the 6 speed cassette was retained in order to have a nearly dishless rear wheel and the gearing is quite adequate. I had to increase the spread for the rear wheel from from 130mm to 135mm which is easily done with a steel frame.

The original Shimano front derailer and the Shimano cantilever brakes were kept as both work very well. To finish it off the frame was powder coated and the original decals were replaced.

The bike looks and rides like new and a comparable new bike would cost considerably more than I have spent on the complete package
