This is my Carema I purchased new from REI in 1987.

I call it a "Retro-Mod" classic as it is a balanced mix of old and new. It rides superbly and keeps up with anything going downhill. Riding weight with pump, bag and bottle is 22.8 lbs.

I've "de-advertised" the bike by removing the majority of stickers, labels, and logos to give it a cleaner, more purposeful look. Its been a work in progress for 19 years and just gets better.

The "OLD": 53cm frame and fork- both Tange #2 Original Sugino ALP crank 52/42 Suntour "aero" downtube friction shifters Tange Falcon headset Suntour Cyclone front and rear deraillers

The "NEW": Mavic CPX30 rear wheel with 7 speed cassette- 12-28 30mm profile / 28spokes 105 hub (wheel purchased used) Spinergy SR3 front wheel 30mm profile / 20 spokes (wheel purchased used) Sachs chain SPD pedals- two sided Tektro dual pivot brakes and levers (These are GREAT!) Titec 42cm handlebars ITM 110mm stem Titec seatpost Aereon saddle with titanium rails Performance alloy skewers Continental 2000 tires Cateye Mity computer
